Ella Antics

So I don't even know where to start. These are all things that Ella has done in the last 72 hours. You see below a picture of Ella with my pump. I asked her what she was doing and she said "Oh I just pumping Mama." Like it is a normal thing for her to do!

Yesterday at Walmart she was going through my purse which I couldn't see because Kole's baby seat was in the way. All of a sudden there is change rolling all over the floor around us. She dug my wallet out of my purse and then opened the change purse. After I finished picking up all the coins that she had dropped and had my purse on my shoulder. I asked her what she was doing. "Oh, I just need some comission Mama."
This morning she brings the cell phone to me and says "I talking to Susan." Then the phone rings. It's Susan wondering if everything was ok. Ella had called her said Hi and then hung up. How she ever got to Susan's number and actually called her is beyond me. She dug the phone out of a special pocket in my purse. I now know to keep my purse far from her reach.
On a postive note she did help me pick beans and tomatoes from the garden today and she only ate two tomatoes and five beans. Usually it is way more than that.

Finally here is a picture of Ella after she dressed herself this morning. From this angle it might not look so bad other than the fact that an orange tank top and green and pink short don't match.

In this picture you can see she has both legs through one hole and just has the other one flying around in the back not bothering at all. Thankfully she didn't complain when I suggested we change outfits.

Rudolph

Ella fell down the three steps she is sitting on Saturday right before Grandpa and Grandma Eason and Aunt Mary came. She was quite distraught, and totally skinned up her nose. When Grandpa saw her he called her Rudolph which is pretty accurate. The tip of her nose is pretty red! I believe she fell because she insists on wearing her bug boots(which are rain boots that are two sizes too big). She likes the boots because she can put them on herself.

This is a pretty good look at the nice scrape yesterday. Today when she was supposed to be napping she came out and told me I don't want that on my nose. Then showed me the scab that she had picked off. On top of that she wondered why she was bleeding. After it happened Addi suggested we put a bandaid on it. I informed her that we don't put bandaids on the nose, but if Ella tries to pick the scab off again I might have to.

Last Hurrah

We decide to take a trip to Des Moines before school started this past Monday. So Thursday after Trav was done with inservice we loaded up the van and headed to Panora. We stayed with Aunt Tina and Uncle Randy. We hadn't seen this house that they are living in so it was fun to picture where they live. On Friday we had a relaxed morning and headed for the Blank Park Zoo midmorning. The girls loved it.

Here is Addi in action. This was the only hippo we saw, but what a fun way to get a drink. We took several drinks from here even though we had water bottles that would have worked just as well. Addi was brave enough to feed the goats and mules. Ella would take the pellets one at a time and throw them at the animals. She just couldn't understand why they weren't eating them.

Kole was such a trooper. He was in the stroller most of the morning and then he napped in the snugglie durng the afternoon.

Ella loved the giraffes. Funny thing was when asked what her favorite part of the zoo was she said the elephant. Only there wasn't a real elephant there. There was just a fake one the sprayed water. Which she wouldn't go near. Whatever!
After a long, hot day at the zoo we decided to explore Des Moines for a few more hours. We were trying to find Water Works Park because I remembered it being so cool as a kid. We didn't find it, but we did go see Principal Park home of the Iowa Cubbies! We were then blessed to have dinner with some good friends in Adel. Then Saturday we hung out with the Leib family until naptime and then had a nice quite drive home. It was a great short getaway before school started. Now they already have one week under their belts.

New Looks

Our girls are sporting new looks these days. Ella got her's yesterday morning while on a shopping trip. She had run into the bathroom ahead of me and then came running back out to see where Kole and I were. She ran smack into his car seat. Needless to say her shopping trip was not the most fun experience.
Addi's new look is a little more drastic then Ella's. After several years of growing her hair out Adi decided to cut her hair and donate it to Locks of Love. She was very excited about doing this and I don't think she has stopped smiling since she got it cut. Trav and I enjoyed when she stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom and brushed it for about 10 minutes. She looks so much more grown up now, but I guess that is bound to keep happening.

Bedtime

Tonight after we put the girls to bed we could hear them talking. Addi was being the teacher and Ella the student. This is what we overheard.
Addi-"Ella say S"
Ella-"S"
Addi-"T"
Ella-"T"
Addi-"U"
Ella-"Me"
Addi-"No, U"
Ella-"Me"
Addi-"U"
Ella-"Me"
This continued for about ten tries. Finally Addi just gave up and went on to W!

First Day of School!

Here is Miss Addi ready to go to her first day of school. She was so excited this morning. When Trav went in to wake her up she shot right out of bed. When asked about her first day here were a few of the things she told me.
" We only had to color one picture today. I hope we get to do more tomorrow."
"Mom we don't get to go down the firepole. Only first graders and bigger get to do that."
"There were a lot of rules today."
"I liked the nachos and hot dog for lunch, but I didn't really care for the pears."
Overall I think she had a great day. She is looking forward to tomorrow because they have music and Daddy has recess duty!

Excitement, Excitement!

Trav and Addi had been away for a few days helping Uncle Tim with their barn. You should have heard the excitement when they came home. They brought home a bouncy horse that has been used several times in the 24 hours it has been in our home. In fact we have to set the timer to determine whose turn it is.

Kole also had cereal for the first time. He did really well. The girls were so excited they are already asking when he can eat all three meals with us. I told Addi around Halloween.

The final excitement was what we ate for supper. Grandpa and Grandma Eason were kind enough to drop off sweet corn. It was the first corn we have had this year. The girls were a little bit confused about what to call it. Addi referred to it as cob on the corn and Ella told us she was eating popcorn several times. Then there was some confusion about what to call the corn holders. I believe they were called needles and toothpicks over the course of the meal!

Bloody Nose

I just finished cleaning up Ella's first bloody nose. I was in a bit of a panic when she came out of her room. She looked like she had been punched in the face. Then she opened her mouth and that was full of blood too. Addi has never had one before so I wasn't quite sure what to do. So I just held tissues to her nose until it stopped. Which is easier said then done because Ella kept wanting to look at the blood that we were 'catching.' I also discovered why her mouth was all bloody. Apparently when it started running down her face she just stuck out her tongue to catch it. I was quite surprised by how little she got on her bed. She is finally settled in and hopefully won't have another one of these for quite some time.
