First Snow of the Season

We woke up Saturday morning to lots of excitement. It started snowing in the night and continued most of the day. I would say we got at least 10 inches, but much of it started melting right away. The kids got outside to play in the snow. Daddy was just as excited as the girls. Kole didn't know what to think, but he is getting better. The hardest part for him is learning how to walk in his boots!

We made our first snowman of the season. It seems it was too top heavy because when we went back outside to play after naps he had fallen over.

The girls were not too discouraged however. We now have a mini snowman in our yard!!

Cowcat!

While driving home from church on Sunday we passed a field with cows out grazing. There was a cat in a edge of the field watching the cows. Addi spoke up right away and said "That must be a cowcat." Trav and I both asked her what she meant. She responded with "You know a cowcat. It's job is to guard the cows just like a sheepdog has the job of guarding the sheep!"

I have learned.....

never to leave a fully clothed little boy in the bathroom when running the water for a bath. I've learned this is what can happen if you do!

Growing By Leaps and Bounds

I have been wanting to do an update on Kole for awhile. He is just learning and doing so much right now. It is fun to see what each new day brings.

-Kole has finally started talking more. He loves tractors, trucks, lawn mowers, etc. He would point at them and say my. We couldn't figure out what he was saying, but finally decided he was saying semi.
-Kole learned the fine art of eating apples off the ground from our neighbor's tree. Ella and Addi like to pull him around in the wagon while he enjoys his snack!

-Kole is an outside boy. He will try to slip out the door first chance he gets. It doesn't matter what he is wearing! He loves to be outside. Dad is looking forward to introducing him to the joys of snow.
-Kole loves farm animals. If there is a book with animals or tractors he will continue to bring it to you and expect it to be read to him. The only animal he can say is duck. All other animals are identified by their sounds. Baa-baa, moo, oink, woof-woof. We can't walk down the hallways at church without stopping to look at the animals in the pictures. He will keep saying baa, baa, baa until we agree with him that yes it is a sheep.
-Kole loves to ride things. It doesn't matter what. One of his favorites is a small toy bus. As you can see it is not meant to be ridden.
-Kole also loves to climb. This is new for us since the girls weren't climbers. Today he climbed on top of one of our stereo speaks. The counter is another favorite place. You can see he uses both chairs to get up.
-Kole other favorite right now is his Da Da Da. He loves spending time with his daddy. We have conferences this week and he hasn't see a lot of him so he will get a picture of Trav and bring it to me. We have really been working on saying Daddy, because for awhile he was calling me Mommy and Trav Ma Ma Ma. One of Kole's favorites with Dad is playing airplane.

Fall Fun!!

The kids had a ball this past weekend celebrating Halloween. At school they do a career unit and the the whole school needs to dress up in the career they want to be. Addi chose to be a zoo keeper. She wanted to work in the monkey house. Notice the mud boots so she doesn't have to step in anything gross. Trav dressed up in his detective gear!!
Kole and Ella showing off their Halloween clothes!!
We carved pumpkins on Friday night. Ella wasn't afraid to get her hands down in the pumpkins. Addi preferred to take out the pieces Dad had carved. I was completely content to take pictures!

Kole had fun playing in an apple box while they carved.

After we were finished we took our pumpkins outside to light them and see how they looked. Notice throughout the pumpkin carving Ella has some interesting hair. She was into doing her on hair that day and preferred the Rambo look!
A close up of our pumpkins. A P for Popken and a kitty or as Kole calls it a Mee-Mou.

Finally on Sunday the kids got all dressed up in their costumes. They were so excited that nobody napped that day! Kole was a tiger, Ella a ladybug, and Addi a bunny. We went to a few neighbor's houses and then we took them down to Spencer to the Trunk or Treat. Ella and Kole both fell asleep on the way down, but were quick to wake up when we got there. They had a great time!!
