Poppe's Pumpkin Patch

A few weeks ago we went to Poppe's Pumpkin Patch. We had wonderful weather as you can see from the shorts everyone is wearing. The little black bugs were biting, but we still had lots of fun. We took a picture next to the measuring pumpkin right after arriving. As you can see they are all growing like crazy.
We decided to brave the corn maze first thing! Kole was more than ready to start out. It made me quite nervous to think about him possibly getting lost in the corn, but as we walked more I realized that it was not really a maze so much as a LONG path twisting and turning through corn. Trav's Mom joined as and this was our exercise for the day. It took us about 10 minutes to complete this. This is the only picture of Ella I got in the corn maze because she was usually way ahead of us.

Trav and Addi played a round of mini golf. We didn't even attempt to keep the other two in the same area!
Kole's favorite thing about the pumpkin patch was playing on their playground and with their tractors! As you can see him lugging them around here!

Ella and Kole both wanted to ride the pumpkin train around. Notice Trav got the pleasure of riding as well!
What a fun day!

Better Late Than Never

So I am finally getting my Clay County Fair pictures posted. We had a great day. The whole DeGroot side of the family was able to enjoy a day at the fair except Trav and Addi couldn't join us because they had to be in school.

Everyone took turns pulling the wagon. First Grandpa, then Uncle Curt.

Eating lunch together. It was crazy, but we got everyone fed.

Grandpa and Grandma were even brave enough to take five of the kids on a ride around the fairgrounds.

The kids all loved the trains. Kole watching the trains with Grandpa.

The sisters and I having some fun in Grandpa's Fun Farm building!!

Grandpa's farm building was great for the kids. Their were all different kinds of animals. From ducks to sheep to new baby chicks. Ella trying out a saddle. Kole loved the Mama pig!!

This was how Kole and Ella looked before we had even left Spencer. They had a great day, but boy were they tired!!

Where has the time gone

I see that it has been nearly a month since I last posted. Not exactly the amount of time I wanted to have in between posts, but what do you do. Our family has been so blessed with the outpouring of love and support following the death of Trav's dad. We already miss him terribly, but are glad he is no longer suffering in his earthly body. Hopefully all our running is done for awhile. We finally feel like we are starting to get caught up at home. We realized last weekend was the first weekend Trav was home in over 6 weeks.

Since we have had so much time in the car lately we have been doing lots of sing alongs. We have overheard some entertaining song lyrics lately. Addi and one of her friends were singing 'America the Beautiful'. This is what we heard 'for purple mountains majesty above the fruited trees'. Ella was singing the Jeremy Camp song 'Never Let Go'. This is what I heard 'Oh no you never let go though the corn and though the storm'(It is supposed to be through the calm and though the storm!) Laughing over these has certainly made some of the travel more bareable!
