A Night in December

Ella and Kole had their Christmas program at church on Wednesday night.  The program included several songs and both kids helped decorate the tree in the program.

Tuesday

Tuesday was a fairly eventful day here at the Popken house.  Kole went back to school after being home with the stomach flu.  He was kind enough to share with Trav & Ella on Tuesday.  

Addi got seven inches cut off her hair and is loving the new look!

Kole tripped on the playground equipment and fell.  Hitting the equipment on his way to the ground and ended up with this beautiful colored eye.  Quite a day!

Take Apart Fun

The kids and Trav had great fun tonight taking apart our old vacuum.  They took out every screw that they could find using the electric screwdriver as well as the long handled ones.

This all happened in my living room which isn't the most ideal spot, but the big kid enjoyed himself as much as the young ones!

Languages of the World

Today at supper Ella decided she was done eating and ready to be excused.  So she proceeded to tell us, "Adios amigos!  That's Japanese for goodbye!"

In Koleson's mind!

Koleson and I spent the afternoon together today!  Super fun times!  He has been asking to spend special time together just the two of us.  I take the girls out on "daddy dates", so naturally K wants to go on a "boy date" as he calls it.  We are urging him to call them "guy time".  We think it has caught on.  So anyway, Koleson and I are having "guy time" driving down to Spencer to test drive trucks.  He says to me, "Dad, why do they call them dead ends anyway?"  This is where the old driver's education instructor in me kicked in and I used this teachable moment to pass on great knowledge to my son who says, "A better way would be to call it extinct.  And an even better way would be to call it passed away, because we don't say dead we say passed away."  It is interesting what is retained by children after a loved one has "passed away".  It is also interesting how complex adults can make things sometimes...
